Kia ora, I’m Kate, a New Zealand photographer and writer based in Christchurch.
 
Stories are things that outlast all else. They are passed down through families, told around fires and under stars, they can survive earthquakes and floods, they inspire us, move us, and bring us together. I believe in the power of stories which is how I came to be a writer and photographer.
 
My photographic specialties lie in people, places, and events, with a particular focus on capturing the essence of groups and individuals. Whether this is a documentary assignment, sports stadium, portrait session, or commercial shoot, I aim to produce work embodying the beating heart of the moment.
 
My written work focuses on non-fiction essays including travel/place/nature writing, profiles, and personal pieces. My fiction work includes short stories and novels. I have been short-listed for the Sargeson Prize, runner-up in the Sunday Star Times competition, and twice commended in the Landfall Essay Competition.
